FLORIDA STATE UNIVERSITY
FITC Student Ambassador Application
Florida is the second-fastest growing state for jobs in technology, and companies need professionals with IT, computers science, and computer engineering expertise. The Florida IT Career (FITC) Alliance was developed to ensure students are trained to meet an increasing demand for careers in technology and that employers welcome graduates of participating schools by strengthening the pathways from the classroom to the boardroom.
The FITC Alliance currently houses a team of 25 dedicated Student Ambassadors who inspire high school students in North Florida to pursue computing professions, as well as support the academic engagement of technology-oriented students currently enrolled at FSU. FITC is looking to hire an additional 10 Ambassadors for Summer term. Ambassadors will be paid $10 per hour during training, leadership development activities, and travel. Food costs associated with travel will also be covered.
Ambassadors are expected to be knowledgable and passionate about technology fields, however majoring in a technology field is not a requirement. Ambassadors have majors both in and out of computing fields, including Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Education, Advertising, Psychology, etc.
Ambassadors are expected to:
Develop leadership competencies through targeted exercises and activities
Improve communication skills through presentations and mentoring opportunities at Florida high schools and community colleges
Travel in small groups to schools in North Florida to promote the Alliance's goas (as schedules permit)
Participate in real-world activities by working with faculty to conduct demonstrations targeted as industry and educational partners
Conduct STEM awareness activities and share experiences with other college students
Discuss how the FITC Alliance can assist college students (career fairs, internship/job search, resume building, etc.)
Serve on FITC student advisory boards
Utilize social media to market FITC activities and technology news
Collaborate with a talented team of Ambassadors during weekly meetings
