Thank you for your interest in becoming a peer tutor here at the Academic Center for Excellence! Please take a moment to review some information about the positions before proceeding to the application:
This position is open to all undergraduate students at Florida State University. At this time, we are not hiring graduate students for the peer tutor positions.
Peer tutors must meet the following minimum requirements to be considered for this paid position (typically to involve 10 hours per week):
Have earned an overall GPA of 3.0 or higher (on all college level coursework completed), with an academic record free of any Academic Honor Policy violation;
Have earned a B+ or higher in the subject area course(s) for which you wish to tutor;
Have submitted a completed instructor recommendation in the subject area for which you wish to tutor ('instructor' is faculty or graduate instructor with primary teaching responsibilities in the course you have completed);
Have submitted a Peer Tutoring Application and a Personal Statement;
Applications are accepted year-round, although the main hiring phases occur in mid-spring (for summer and fall terms) and mid-fall (for the spring term).
We have two studios that accept applications. The Learning Studio offers appointment-based tutoring in a wide variety of subject areas. The Math Studio offers walk-in tutoring for College Algebra through Calculus III.
